 WILLIAM ARENIVAS

Major(s): Political Science

Bio: I am a transfer student from Kapiʻolani Community College (KCC). For two years, I served as the Chair of the Associated Students of KCC-Student Congress (ASKCC-SC). Representing approximately 8,000 full/part-time students. I have also served as Vice-Chair and Executive at Large, Oahu, for the University of Hawaii Student Caucus (UHSC). UHSC is comprised of representation from every UH campus and works to address system-wide student issues. As Chair of ASKCC-SC, I worked to re-build an effective student government with the goal of amplifying and empowering the student voice of KCC; by collaborating with faculty, staff, and administration (at all levels) to address students’ needs and concerns. With your vote of confidence, I wish to use this wealth of experience and knowledge to continue working pro-actively and collaboratively to meet and address the needs of the Students of the College of Arts and Sciences at UH Mānoa.

nopicture.pngDANSON HONDA

Major(s): Pre-business

Bio: Danson Honda is a sophomore at UH Manoa and a Senator of the College of Arts and Sciences for the 2016-2017 school year. During high school, he served as a drum major of the Pearl City High School marching band, and medaled at cross country state championships during both his junior and senior years. He also served as a member of the Hawaiʻi State Board of Education, representing over 180,000 public and charter school students across the state. To this day, he continues statewide efforts on issues such as allowing high school sports to count as a PE credit and granting the student member a vote on the BOE.

Although UH Manoa doesn't have a men's cross country and track team *cough cough*, he continues to remain active in sports by participating in road races and triathlons.

Honda is a vegetarian. Contrary to popular belief, he insists he's a vegetarian because he hates plants (and therefore enjoys eating them).

He hopes his experience working with diverse groups of people will help him be an effective advocate for the students of UH Manoa.
