COMMITTEE dESCRIPTIONS
On-Campus Resident Student Affairs
The committee for on-campus resident student affairs strives to enhance student life on campus by tackling issues that directly effect students living on campus. Some campaigns that we are currently working on are, improving living conditions in the dorms. Putting together an end of the semester book swap meet. Communicating with campus security to make sure student rights are up held. And finally working on putting up free speech boards in the student dorm area. We are always welcome to suggestions from the student body and will try to serve you to the best or our abilities.
Internal Affairs
Investigate and research vacant student representative positions and recruit qualified student members for nomination to said position.Review and Revise the Constitution with the consent of the President in accordance with the conditions provided for under Article XII, Section A. Review and revise the Rules of the Senate and Elections rules. Make recommendations regarding any amendments to the above documents before a vote may be taken in the Senate. Investigate all complaints leveled against Executive Officers or Senators in an objective and timely manner. Maintain correspondence with elected Presidential appointees to student representative positions.
Elections
The ASUH Elections Committee coordinates elections throughout the academic year to fill all of the 38 senate seats. Along with coordinating elections the committee holds voter registration drives as well as revises ASUH election rules. In the past two years the Elections committee through its diligent efforts has been able to increase awareness of ASUH and host elections with the highest voter turnout in the past 5 years. The members of the committee will continue to work hard and strive for even higher goals. Please vote in out next ASUH election!
Finance & Investments
The Committee on Finance receives, investigates, and make recommendations on measures pertaining to the appropriation of ASUH funds and the financial affairs of the ASUH. In addition, the committee is responsible for making recommendations on RIO funding as well as monitoring and reporting to the Senate on matters dealing with the student stadium stock investment portfolio, recommending action to the Senate regarding the investment policies.
Undergraduate Academic Affairs
The Undergraduate Academic Affairs committee receives, investigates, and makes recommendations on complaints, grievances, problems, and proposals that are related to the academic concerns of the university. The committee also oversees application process for the ASUH tuition awards and research awards.
External Affairs
Research and prepare testimony concerning issues representing the ASUH Senate. Represent the official positions of ASUH in accordance with the above at official functions in the absence of the President. Create and maintain an accurate image of ASUH, and maintain open communication with media outlets.
Commuter Affairs
To address non-academic commuter student affairs issues on campus through resolutions, and working with the administration and other departments to bring resolutions to fruition. Receive, investigate and make recommendations on complaints, grievances, problems and proposals, which are related to the non-academic concerns of the University. Coordinate and extend ASUH programs to ASUH members that help foster a university community.
Cultural & Ethnic Diversity
Make recommendations to the Senate on issues regarding cultural and ethnic issues related to students. Review any support recommended for groups related to cultural and ethnic diversity
